I grew up in a very small town in Illinois called Fulton, but I also enjoyed spending time in my mom’s hometown of Goldsboro, NC. With a growing love of North Carolina, I joined the Army at 17 years old and volunteered for the 82D Airborne Division, based in Fayetteville, NC. Operating all over the world for four years, I was the beneficiary of world class leadership training and experience. This fueled my lifetime fascination with the servant leadership style and getting big results in tough situations. After the Army, and with the GI Bill, I was fortunate to earn an undergraduate degree in Hospitality Management, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Early on, my career was built on mentorship from experienced managers in world class companies. With their help, I became a General Manager at a young age, and a multi-unit operator throughout the Southeast shortly thereafter. I found out very quickly that to get amazing business outcome across many units, you must surround yourself with first class talent and develop them to be successful. I also disovered that a deep understanding of project management and qualitative process improvement is necessary to be successful so I added a PMP Certification to my inventory of knowledge. After developing this immersive experience in operations, leadership and business, I was able to build many new restaurants and to see them become successful as a multi-unit leader and co-owner.
I founded Britehood Services to collaborate and to share resources and best practices with fellow hospitality industry professionals. I am particularly interested in leadership initiatives that build and motivate staff to achieve unprecedented results of performance excellence, maximize organizational effectiveness, and improve retention and loyalty. My greatest interest is in developing groups and individuals into cohesive and dedicated teams, driven by a sense of shared focus and attention to detail. Likewise, utilizing technology and strategic vision to grow market share, improve operating margins, and enhance operations are also priorities for me.
