Britehood was a true expert in effective systems and management. During their time with us, they implemented sales based scheduling, designed it so it was easy to follow and understand, and it ultimately lowered labor 5 points for a 1.8 million impact! The management style is transparent and they're natural coaches allowing the team to grow to their fullest potential. They have had the most positive impact on my development and I will carry the wisdom I learned from them for the rest of my career.
Britehood helped us move our entire accounting operation from an outside firm to an in-house system. They cleaned up and re-structured our entire bookkeeping system, wrote the standard operating procedures, and trained our in-house staff. Not only have we save 10s of thousands of dollars from the outside firm, but our books are more accurate, and more streamlined, and we gained much better oversight of our business by looking at accurate weekly P&Ls. If you are going to trust anyone with finance, the most vulnerable part of your business, these are the people you want to call.
I have had the pleasure of using Britehood as well as receiving their direction and guidance for over ten years now. The work has included many sectors of the industry including long-term strategies for unit growth, marketing, menu evolution, and restaurant financial planning, just to name a few. In working to execute those strategies, their ability to guide the development of key tactics that get you to the desired result was of the highest value to me. Whether that was more about project management and process improvement or a quarterly business plan, I have always excelled when working with Britehood. From my 23 years of experience, I do not believe you will find a finer service industry partner.
When Britehood first began studying our new store opening process, we were opening four stores per year on average. The stores we opened needed help with qualitative and financial key performance indicators. The old process required a significant time commitment from field operations pre and post-opening. Ultimately, new units were successful, but they took longer to mature. Britehood assembled a project team in 2020 to transform this process. The team began with a year of research across six new store openings, with constant incremental improvements made along the way. A new critical path was designed that streamlined the process and consolidated all activities into one communication channel and automated dashboard. Lastly, training resources were developed, and a permanent new store opening team was empowered. The result is that we now have the potential to open ten stores per year, a 150% improvement over the baseline. It was indeed a pleasure to work with Britehood on this project.
Smartsheet is one of most robust project and program management software applications in the world. For this reason, Britehood has immersed itself in subject matter expertise in all aspects of this platform. When this expertise is combined with a PMP certification as described below, the results can be spectacular. Britehood has built entire customized solutions for big and small companies using this platform, connecting a long term strategic vision with actionable real time effort. An integrated build would include seamless project templates that are efficient for anyone to use, entire program builds that integrate individual projects into a cohesive long term effort, and high level executive planning to include 5+ years long term strategic plans. Best of all, there is unlimited drill-down capability from the highest level strategic plan, into specific active initiatives. When Smartsheet experts reviewed one of our recent builds for a $150M+ company, they said the following - this is such a comprehensive high level of quality, we're not sure if we could have even done it ourselves.
One of the deepest impacts that Britehood has ever made for clients is in the area of cost of goods reduction. We've had reductions as high as 8 points for a single restaurant for $240,000 in impact and as high as 5 points for an entire company for nearly $2M in impact. Much of this comes from developing hyper-efficient inventory management systems, to include accurate theoretical cost, volume-based ordering, waste reduction, and variance tracking. Surprisingly though, the majority of the impact comes from classical menu engineering and analysis. Click the image to the left to see a famous article, updated in 2007, which includes many of the classic ME matrices that were developed as early as 1982. Britehood merges best practices from all of these matrices into an innovative modern system which is elevated and made more efficient by automation and artificial intelligence. Contact us if you're interested in this proven technique for dramatically reducing your cost of goods.

This white paper was written by our long-term colleague and frequent Britehood contributor Gabe Fore. It is a deep dive into the types of environments that attract and retain A-Players, and how to create these environments. In these types of workplaces, much of the traditional and costly infrastructure can be dismantled because that infrastructure is only necessary in traditional hierarchies of leader first and C-player followers. Let us know if you are interested in creating this dynamic high-performance workplace.
Britehood has unequivocally proved the correlation between the creation of world class training systems, and the dramatic improvement of all company key performance indicators. Our five point process, which has taken from as little as six months, to as long as two years, begins with extensive research to identify company brand standards. Brand standards are those image based performance standards, so vital to the public perception of a company, that they are considered brand defining. Once these are established, a long ranging career path is created that incentivizes all employees from top to bottom to drive their own personal development. First class training materials are then created in a modern Learning Management System like Schoox. In these training materials, brand standards are clearly identified and taught to perfection. These are further supported with on the job training processes and testing. Lastly, an objective brand standards auditing system is developed that enforces and reinforces the new paradigm. Over a dozen times, this process has created a 15% improvement in all company KPIs, including financial, qualitative, and employee satisfaction KPIs. Needless to say, we are believers in training!
A small locally owned client with multiple restaurants and a significant catering operation requested digital operations checklists. Britehood has had great success in the past implementing complex but expensive systems that specialize in operations compliance checklists for restaurants. This smaller client wanted a simpler solution so we built out a custom digital operations checklist system using Google Forms within their Google Workspace ecosystem. The result was a completely free system, with more robust features, better ease of use, and 100% automated completion and quality ratings routed to the store level and company scorecards. Britehood has seen an average of 10% improvements in all qualitative KPIs as a result of well designed compliance checklists. We highly recommend this same type of buildout for small, medium, and large scale restaurant companies.
Scrum is the most modern of all of the modern Agile project methodologies. Scrum is a management framework that teams use to self-organize and work towards a common goal. It describes a set of meetings, tools, and roles for efficient project delivery. Much like a sports team practicing for a big match, Scrum practices allow teams to self-manage, learn from experience, and adapt to change. Senior partner Paul McGowan was awarded his Scrum Master Certification in 2023 and has used the methodology extensively to deliver results to clients.
